Hosted by CBS News investigative reporter, Dr. Bob Arnot, this documentary takes place in North Darfur, in what has been called, "the first environmental war of the 21st Century." Bob is a seasoned field reporter who has filed stories from Sudan since 1989, and is known worldwide for his reports on other humanitarian crises over the last two decades, including Gulf Wars I and II, the Rwandan genocide, and the civil wars in South Sudan, Uganda and Congo.
For millions affected by this civil war, their only hope are humanitarian organizations willing to risk the substantial dangers on the ground to provide relief.Darfur marked one of the largest and fastest relief efforts ever launched, with 13,500 humanitarian aid workers on the ground. This film follows the efforts of the NGO where I used to work, International Medical Corps.
This U.S.-based medical relief organization, which operates in 25 countries and a wide variety of crisis regions devastated by war and natural disaster, was one of the first to arrive on the scene in Darfur and remains there to this day. In the film, Dr. Arnot interviews our Medical Director on-site, Dr. Jill John-Kall among others.
For this production I re-cut the film, and produced a DVD for a screening & fundraising event at the Yale Club in NYC. The movie takes a hard look at the tragic humanitarian crisis in Sudan, and highlights IMC's role in confronting the problem. This image grab above, is part of the interactive DVD menu I created.
For this project, I edited a video short of the larger movie suitable for web viewing, as well as serving as Event Photographer during a screening of the complete film at Warner Bros. Studios.
