Project Goals

For this project, the client needed to present an application to a number of different movie studios, in which they would be choosing repertory content from their library of films for distribution to various theatrical chains. The client didn't want to offend any execs by presenting the content from competing studios, so they couldn't just insert a series of random movie posters.

Rather than swapping out multiple one sheets from each studio which would have added considerable work for the Development Team, the easiest solution was simply to create a number of temporary stand-in images which could be used for all presentations. However, they also wanted it to look as realistic as possible for the demos.

The easiest solution was to create mock-ups of faux posters, and this task fell to me. For each poster, I came up with a concept for the film, a suitable title and corresponding image, and added credits and film ratings. This last bit was important because depending upon the rating, display sorting would be triggered in the application according to that metric.

I created 30 movie posters in 3 days. Honestly, this was a comparatively minor task (and one needed quickly, so I couldn't go too insane with it in terms of original drawings or anything), but one which I had a lot of fun with, simply because no real creative limits were placed upon what I might come up with. So basically, I got to just play.

Image Notes

I like that unlike so many comic book action spectaculars, this one is understated – just as the character is supposed to be, in his alter ego.
