Project Description

I wasn't actually hired to code this particular site, but roughly a month after I came onboard to do desktop application design work, the server this site was located on, started to fail. I was the only person at the company at that point who knew Linux, so I was asked to fix the situation.

Since the prior site was already quite old, and I was already driving a design update of their suite of applications, we decided to do more than merely move the site, but instead redesign it entirely. To allow for non-technical staff to update content easily, I coded a Wordpress-based site, and added higher quality images and new branding to give it a new, modern feel that reflected their brand's bright color scheme.

This particular client has been in the industry for a number of years, and their products are widely used by both distributers and theatrical exhibitors. However, while their backend functionality has always been regarded as strong, the major knock on their product suite was that their frontend user interfaces lacked a sense of design & ease-of-use.

Therefore when this site went public, it attracted a lot of attention within the movie industry as it marked a long-anticipated shift towards accommodating user requests for greater UX clarity. As a result, the company secured a number of new clients, and this combined with significant efforts to update their product suite over the following two years, led to the company being purchased in a merger acquisition in 2017.
