This client needed a major stylistic overhaul to their financial services applications, so I was invited to submit a front-end User Interface (UI) design in addition to providing technical writing of instructonal guides for their software.
I created this in collaboration with the CEO & Technology Department leadership as we brainstormed ideas about look-and-feel, as well as greater usability, by condensing certain functions into blocks, rather than changing pages, or flipping context between two services. All intented to create efficiences in use. Ordering of elements in terms of the user's process, were also implemented.
Often, the most I'll get from clients for an initial design iteration, is just a whiteboard sketch like the one below, and then I'll riff on designs from there, to produce pixel-accurate mockups that developers can base their code on. Added to this (of course) are significant usability studies, but I can take things pretty far down the conceptual road with little more than this.
