Project Description

Creating this political website involved developing a design that would not only function as a place to post timely news items via an integrated blog, but also serve as "internet as memory" where events of particular significance that mark turning points in the direction of human progress for better or worse are stored and remembered.

Individuals are invited to submit either original writing of their own, or post articles and comment upon them for permanent display, and the editors evaluate their significance and post them accordingly, if they find them of particular interest.

I would regard this methodology as both a weakness and a strength. By definition, it requires more intensive maintenance than a typical social media site, and therefore updates move slower, but that can also be viewed as a strength, because slowing down intentionally, and reviewing the merits of content in the light of the long-term rather than the immediate, tends to lead to more thoughtfulness, which is often severely lacking in most social media.

A more freeform conversation is reserved for the open blog, and there is also a bookstore space where visitors can purchase books from independent booksellers.
